JJ Search & The Possible Port is an installation comprising
nautical objects and a book. The vitrine exhibition is an open
letter, in response to the writings and fictional inventions of
Portuguese philosopher, poet, Fernando Pessoa (1888-1935).
Jon Jonathon Search: Naval Officer, Oceanographer and Maritime Explorer
is an imagined, hybrid-heteronym. The objects displayed are
the character's *personal belongings*. The book includes a
brief character bio and a passage extracted from Fernando Pessoa's
The Book of Disquiet(Published posthumously).
Globe: 1.5 mm Silver hollow form,sitting on a coated steel base, hidden silver tap & die. To the left, the lighthouse is silicone, object nxt to it is blackened steel, platinum w two loose pearls & some sand. On the other side, the pen-missiles are;1. Titanium, 18ct gold, platinum 2. Bronze, 18ct gold & 3. Silver. The little stands are mild steel.
